Bushwalking and Photography for nature lovers in nearby Morton National Park. The entrance is 1 km from the cottage. There are 11 designated walks and cater for all levels of fitness from short strolls to spectacular views from lookout points, or day walks traversing the gullies, gorges and waterfalls. The Glow Worm Glen Walk at Bundanoon is short and ‘signed’ and starts at the end of William Street, off Railway Avenue – take a torch for an evening viewing. There are also nearby, the mighty waterfalls of Fitzroy Falls, Carrington Falls and Belmore Falls at Robertson. Bushwalking maps, a specific ‘Walks near Bundanoon in Morton National Park’ booklet and ‘Bundanoon Morton National Park’ brochure are available from the National Parks and Wildlife Visitors Information Centre at Fitzroy Falls (20 mins. drive).

• Enjoy the local cafes, or have a drink and meal at the Historic Bundanoon Country Hotel, all only a minute’s stroll from Bundanoon Cottage’s doorstep.

• Enjoy the Bundanoon village atmosphere (mostly unchanged since the 1920’s). Tempting old and new homeware shops, a boutique plant nursery, ‘The Good Yarn’ has knitwear, handicraft items, jams and bric-a-brac. The Pottery has its live-in potter, kilns and beautiful handmade items on display and sale, Gourmet Deli, Bakery, Newsagent, Bottle shop, Chemist, local Butchery, PO, Icecreamery, all providing personalised service with a country smile.

Piano at 10 Concert, 1st Saturday of the month at 10am, held in the Memorial Hall, Bundanoon. A great treat and very reasonably priced.

Cycling Bundanoon is surrounded by beautiful country lanes and bush tracks perfect for gentle cycling or for the most athletic. You can hire cycles at the Ye Olde Bicycle Shoppe in Bundanoon 4883 6043. Join in on a group ride Free and receive a discount or a coffee after. Penrose and Wingello State Forests have marked mountain bike trails – see the map at the cottage or purchase one from the Bicycle Shoppe. The Bong Bong Track, Moss Vale – see brochure, is fabulous too.

• Visit the Buddhist Sunnataram Forest Monastery. You can attend meditation and chanting on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. Weekend luncheon visitors (vegetarian) are welcome at 11am, you must book ahead . See the18 metre high Gratitude Pagoda built by the monks. Enshrined in the pagoda are the relics of the Budda and other enlightened monks, who lived in India 543BC. Teudts Road, Bundanoon. Learn to Fly Fish on the Lake at Briars Lodge, Burradoo. You can choose a package deal, which includes lunch. All equipment provided. Mark, your instructor can pick you up and deliver you back to the cottage. Phone Mark +61 2 4883 6324 for bookings.

Horse Riding at Tugalong Station for Mountain and Bush Trail riding. 45 mins. drive. Bookings essential Phone 4878 9171.

Cecil Hoskins Nature Reserve 2 kms north of Moss Vale. Designed for the bird enthusiast and cyclist. Seats along the way to enable people to experience the peace and tranquillity of the area. A picnic area provides tables and BBQs. At sunrise and sunset you may even see a platypus! You can ride your bikes and link up with other cycle routes through Bowral.

Live Jazz each Sunday from 1pm at The Robertson Inn, Illawarra Highway, Robertson. Why not make it a stop over on your way back to Sydney or Wollongong.

Train Trip to Goulburn and Return. Great day out and something a little different to do. Goulburn is a historic city with many heritage buildings, cathedrals and houses, a beautiful park, places to eat and galleries. 40 minute ride one way. Of course you can catch the train heading north towards Bowral and Mittagong as well, a very pretty way to see the Highlands from a different view. Must check timetable information with the Station Master.

Montrose Berry Farm including a classified homestead circa 1861.Visit their Farm Shop at any time, (closed Mondays). Purchase jams and tarts, fresh asparagus from October. Moss Vale Cattle Saleyards. Experience the spirit of rural Australia by attending one of the few remaining cattle sales held every Wednesday. Cattle Selling Centre, Berrima Road, Moss Vale. (10 mins. drive).

Morning sleep-ins in warm, cosy beds, read to your hearts content on the sunny veranda, sit and dream in the beautiful cottage garden or curl up beside the open fire, might be the very best things to do at Bundanoon Cottage.
