Bundanoon
Cottage is over 100 years old, and set amongst other lovely old homes of
the same era. It is situated uniquely within the village and probably the
most centrally located accommodation in Bundanoon. It is set back enough
to enjoy the vista of a mostly unchanged 1920’s village, the historic
pub and old world railway station. Staying at Bundanoon Cottage gives you
the wonderful opportunity to partake in the full and special experience
of a highland, country town.
The cottage is all yours for your stay and is completely self contained,
so you have privacy, comfort and freedom to do as you please at your
own pace.
All you need to bring is warm clothes and food if you’re dining in
around the open fire.
There are two double bedrooms and a sitting room with a double, inner spring
sofa. All quality linen and towels are provided as well as firewood. For
your comfort there is a reverse cycle air-conditioner, gas and electric
heating.
All beds have electric blankets, doonas and extra throws for a wonderfully,
snug good nights sleep.
The country kitchen is very well equipped and for your convenience, sugar,
tea, pepper and salt, flour, oil etc is kept in the pantry.
A sunny, north-facing veranda is perfect to sit on and lap up the sun,
watch the mists roll in and enjoy a view of the garden. There is a generous
front porch
to sit in on warm afternoons and watch the village life pass by with a cool
drink, cheese and biscuits.
The garden is one of the loveliest around, private and landscaped with
cool climate plants, trees and flowers and is much admired. In all seasons
it
is full of flowers
and birds like to visit. There are places to sit and dine, and just to relax.
A BBQ is set up ready to cook. There is also a neighbouring park to wander
in and to kick a ball or play the cottage’s game of patonk.
If you love walking, cycling and taking in nature’s grand views, the
Morton National Park is a 2 minute drive from the front door. Bundanoon and
the countryside
have quiet, safe and gently undulating avenues perfect for cycling.
There is off-street parking for 3-4 cars, and because of the location you
may never need to drive for your whole stay! Travelling time is only 1 1/2
hours
from Sydney and Canberra, and 40 mins. from Wollongong.
Bundanoon Cottage’s unique location can give you wonderful experiences.
Bagpipers in "their kilts tuning up outside your window at Brigadoon time
and a Scottish Band parade, hear the drift of live jazz from a wine tasting afternoon
at the lovely old hotel, a lone piper on a donkey at the Anzac ceremony outside
the War Memorial Hall. Stroll to the village markets for fresh strawberries for
breakfast on Sundays, watch an occasional horse and its rider trot by, see a
group of earnest cyclists gather for the annual races. If you’re lucky
sometime bikers on their Harleys pass by ‘on mass’. You can even
see an old steam train from the front porch puff its way along to Goulburn.
All this while enjoying your own private getaway.
